Ben’s barn is the home for two large horses, one small horse and two ponies. The chart below shows how much hay each of these animals eat each day:



Large horse 1 1/2 bales of hay per day
Small horse 5/6 bale of hay per day
Pony 1/2 a bale of hay per day


  1. How many bales of hay should Ben purchase for a 30-day supply for his five animals?

  2. If hay costs $1.25 per bale, how much will the 30-day supply cost?
