Week 31 CAPT Problem - 9th Grade

Dice

Dice are usually six sided figures (which we could call a hexagon). Suppose that we had 2 six sided dice that had the numbers 1 through 6 on each side.

  1. How many different outcomes are there when we roll the dice (consider the fact that dice 1 being a 2 and dice 2 being a 3 and dice 1 being a 3 and dice 2 being a 2 are two different outcomes). Explain how you reached your conclusion.

  2. What are the chances that we get a total of 7 when we roll the two dice. Express your answer as a fraction.

  3. What are the chances I will get a total of 10 or more when we roll the two dice.

  4. What are the chances I would I roll a 5 or a 7?

  5. If we rolled 3 dice how many different outcomes would there be?
