Making Change

Kia and her brother, Max, wanted to buy gumballs from the machine in the grocery store, but all they had was a quarter, which the machine would not take.

Could we please have change for this quarter? they asked the clerk. The clerk, tired of making change for the kids, made them an offer instead.

If you can tell me the 11 different ways I can make change for a quarter, using pennies, nickels and dimes, he chuckled, I’ll give you each a free gumball!
